Monogram Background Cut

This design is my sample for The Paper Cabana Challenge #4:  Backgrounds.  This was designed to go on a glass block which unfortunately did not arrive in time for the challenge, so plan B was this card.  I used part of the Curve Screen  background by Jennifer Wambach and then welded it to a frame.  I then made the circle frame and welded the letter M inside the frame.  I made an offset of the circle frame to cut out the center of the background and then welded the monogram to the background.  I can’t wait for my glass blocks to get here so I can finish my real project!

Halloween Lantern

I am on a Halloween roll!  I had this lantern template in my stash and decided to recreate it in Silhouettes Studio.  I added the cobweb, spider and spooky cat to make it a Halloween Lantern.  I think I will make a few more of these to line my walkway on Halloween, just need to add a little orange tissue paper and some battery-powered tea lights!

Halloween Apothecary Jar Top

I love this cute apothecary jar cut file from the SVG cuts set Toil and Trouble and the tall version is the perfect size to hold two layers of Smarties, my daughter’s favorite candy!  I decided to make it out of acetate so that she could see the candy inside.  It went together pretty easily, I just hate using glue because I am so messy!  The tabs on the lid are pretty small and you shape it as you go, so there was no way to use my ATG gun, so I had to use my Stampin’ Up! 2-Way Glue.  I am going to make another one for my son also.  He is not a big candy eater, so I’m not sure what I will put in it, but it is just too cute not to make him one!

Googly-eyed Spooky Tree

My card today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Free for All Challenge F4A135…The eyes have it! The challenge is to use googly eyes on your card, with brownie points for using them on an inanimate object. I knew I wanted to use a spooky tree for my card, but could not find one that I liked. I searched the web for spooky tree coloring pages, and finally found an image that I liked and traced it in my Silhouette Studio software. I am also submitting this card to the Out of a Hat Creations Challenge: Halloween. This fun card is heading to my son for Halloween!

Apple Bushel Basket

Here is my submission for Challenge #2 at The Paper Cabana.  When I think of fall, I think of the apple orchard we always visited near my grandparents’ home in Central PA.  This Apple Bushel Basket reminds me of the baskets we used to bring the apples home in and is so easy to put together.  It makes a great presentation for a muffin, cupcake or other  sweet treat.   I created the cut file for the Bushel Basket from an old paper template.

I love this Book Box Card! I bought these tie dye hair ties to send to my daughter, but I wanted something a little different to put them in. I posted a request on the Silhouette Plus forum and Adele posted a link to this awesome Book Box Card. I made one of these years ago from a printed template and it was so tedious, I never did it again. With this cut file, it was a breeze and went together beautifully! I can’t wait to do another one!

Well, we weathered Tropical Storm Isaac with no damage, just lots of rain.  Poor Stella, she really hates thunderstorms and we have had day after day of storms!  We have a busy week ahead getting my daughter ready to head back to school, she and my husband are flying up on Sunday.  I am sad to see her go, but she is ready to get back to her life in Boston.  I haven’t had much time for crafting the past few weeks, but that will change once my daughter is back at school.

As mentioned in my previous post, I have started a new weekly challenge blog and our first challenge starts in one week!  The guest designers are all in place and geared up for the September challenges.  And what a talented group of designers they are, please visit The Paper Cabana to read all about them, I am so excited to see their  fabulous new projects!  So I will be back soon with some fun things, promise!

Torn Paper Challenge

Lynn is up this week with a challenge for the Card-a-Day Blog Group, Torn Paper.  First, I have to tell you how much I LOVE this group!  They are such a talented group of women and so encouraging and supportive, I feel so fortunate to be a part of this group!  And now for my challenge card:

Torn Paper Beach

I used Very Vanilla cardstock for the sand.  I tore the strips, sponged with Creamy Caramel and layered on the aqua card base.  I added the AMuse Clouds cardstock (thanks Kay!) for the sky.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the beach umbrella from Summer Set by Jamie Koay in Basic Black and Stampin’ Up! Polka Dot Parade Real Red Designer Series Paper.

You Color My World

Today I have a quick card for the Ways to Use It Challenge WT388 School Tools on Splitcoaststampers.  When I was a kid, back to school was one of my favorite times of the year because I got new art supplies!  I always got a new box of 64 crayons, new watercolors, new markers, construction paper, paste, glue, felt and pipe cleaners.  I was an only child and spent many hours with my art supplies, so getting new stuff was a treat!  When I saw the challenge to make a card using school tools, I immediately thought of art supplies.  I designed my watercolor paint box for my Silhouette Cameo, but you could do the same thing with punches.
