Blossom Punch Hibiscus Challenge Card

Standard

Here is my entry for this week’s challenge at The Paper Players,  Challenge #103 – Colors from Anne Marie.  I love this summery color combo and my first thought when I saw it was flowers.

Calypso Hibiscus Thank You

I made the Hibiscus flowers using the Stampin’ Up! Blossom Punch.  I punched three flowers in Calypso Coral and cut the petals apart.  I sponged the edges and centers with Calypso Coral and added a few lines with the Calypso Coral Marker.  I glued five petals to a 1/2 inch circle base and added a flower from the Stampin’ Up! Spring Bouquet Punch.  I punched the centers in Daffodil Delight and sponged with Daffodil Delight to add a little definition.  For the leaves, I used the brand new Bigz Die Autumn Accents from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  I cut the leaves in Lucky Limeade, used a bone folder to create the veins and sponged with Lucky Limeade.  For the background panel, I embossed a piece of Daffodil Delight with the Stampin’ Up! Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  I mounted the background panel on a Calypso Coral card base.  I adhered the leaves and flowers and then added the sentiment.  I stamped the Stampin’ Up! Itty Bitty Banners sentiment in Lucky Limeade on Whisper White, cut it out by hand and layered on the mat I cut with the new Stampin’ Up! Framelits Bitty Banners in Calypso Coral.  I must say, I am really pleased with how this turned out!

Watercolored PSX Bird of Paradise 3/100

ETA:  Wow, I am floored, this card was mentioned 3 times on the Splitcoaststampers Weekly Favorites!  I guess it is a good thing I didn’t give up on this one.

This is another card I made with scraps and outtakes from my desk. I stamped and embossed the PSX Bird of Paradise a few weeks ago for a technique challenge to use reinkers. I attempted to do the watercolor with reinkers technique, but I did everything I could think of to make it look half way decent and I just couldn’t get it to look good. I put it down and came back to it a few days later and with the help of my markers, I got it to look ok. And then I got the spot! Right smack dab in the middle of the image! I don’t really know where it came from, but there it is, in all it’s glory, lol. I almost threw this one in the trash, but I decided to cut it out and use a simple black oval mat on a Naturals White card base. When I showed my daughter she said, “Mom, don’t put that one on your blog”. Oh well, win some, lose some.
